Filter Maintenance
Machine cleaning and filter replacement will ensure that your Water Machine keeps running in tip-top shape and increases the life of the machine and quality of the water.
Daily /Weekly Cleaning Tip:
Running Beauty Water is a simple process to help the keep the machine running at peak performance. It reverses the processes of the machine and helps to keep your machine free of mineral build-up. This little procedure will help if you are seeing white specks in your water. Remember to collect the water in this process. Water your plants, put it in your laundry or rinse your hair, face and body. It makes everything beautiful!
Procredure:
1) Run Beauty Water (Acid) every day or every other day for 3-5 minutes.
2) Followed by the running of clean water for 1 minute full blast.
How to Properly Clean Your Water Machine
Cleaning is an easy procedure and should be carried out at least once every month in order to keep the machine electrodes free of mineral buildup and working efficiently.
Clean every month or sooner:
- If you notice a change in the taste of your Alkaline Water
- If you find white particles mixed in the water
- When pH levels fail to vary in accordance with the unit setting
- When water comes out sparingly, stops, or if white liquid drips after unit
is turned off.
These cleaning instructions are a combination of the old and new procedures to clean your machine. They vary slightly from the instructions you will find in the box of E-Cleaner you get from the manufacturer. We feel this is the easiest and most effective way to carry out the cleaning procedure. If you do not have the RED plugs needed to clean your machine this way you can by all means follow the instructions that come with the E-Cleaner.

1) Turn machine off and unplug
2) Unlock the locking ring to enable removal of filter. Take out the Purification Filter
(Photo #1 & #2)
3) If O-Rings (little black washers) did not come out with filter remove them from the
machine and place them back on filter (Photo #3)
4) Take out E-Cleaner Cleaning Cartridge and one packet of cleaning powder
(Photo #4) Unscrew top of cleaning cartridge.
5) Fill the cleaning cartridge with one envelope of cleaning powder.
6) Screw the cap back on cartridge and insert cartridge in machine.
7) Put locking ring on cleaning filter and lock. Make sure it is on level. (Photo #5)
8 ) Plug the end of grey hose with the red cone plug that was included with the old
cleaning filter (Photo #6). You can get a Red Cone from the manufacturer Service Dept or
contact me and I will send you one.
- You can also use the older Red Plugs but you will have too cut the hose to
remove the Acid Water dispenser. Cut 1/4-1/2″ off the end of the hose so the red plug will fit tightly.
9) Turn the flexible hose upward in a U-shape as in photo #7. If you turn it upward as in
photo #8 you will make a mess.
10) Turn on your faucet slowly. If you turn it on full blast you will wash your ceiling.
Once the water begins to drip from the flexible hose, turn the water off.
11) Let the machine sit for 5-6 hours or overnight.
To Finish the Cleaning Procedure:
12) When cleaning period is done, turn the flexible hose down and unplug the grey hose.
13) Leaving the cleaning filter in the machine turn on the water and let it run 10 minutes
to flush out the accumulated minerals.
14) After you have flushed out the machine, take the cleaning filter out. Make sure the
O-Rings come out with it. Place the Purification filter back in the machine. Run
water another 1-3 minutes.
15) Rinse out, clean and dry the cleaning cartridge. Put it back in the E-Cleaner box
ready for the next use. With proper care it will last up to 3 years.
16) Write the date of cleaning on the filter or clean on the same date every month (1st of
the month, etc).
17) I suggest cleaning your machine at least once a month!
The Cleaning Procedure is now done!
You do not have to replace the purification filter every time you do this cleaning procedure.
Your Machine Purification Filter
The purification filter that comes with your is a very high grade Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter. Every other filter I have seen in a water ionizer needs to be replaced after 500 to 1000 gallons of water purification. These filters is good for up to 3000 gallons. All GAC filters are most effective and efficient in the first 50% of filter life.
The machine has a micro-processor inside that counts water volume.
Machines purchased before Oct 2009 are calibrated to notify you when you reach the 3000 by saying “Replace Filter” every time you produce water. If you purchased your machine before Oct 2009 when the machine says replace filter you need to replace filter.
Machines purchased after Oct 2009 are calibrated to notify you each 1500 gallons. If you are using KDF pre-filters the internal filter should last 3000 gallons. If you are not using KDF pre-filters I would check for chlorine at 1500 gallons. If there is chlorine present in the water, change your filter. If there is no chlorine you can press the reset button and reset the machine for another 1500 gallons.
Every family reaches these gallon limits at different times. The filter will usually last from 6-12 months depending on how much water you are using.
Change the GAC filter once a year or 1500 to 3000 gallons whichever comes first. If after 1 year the machine does not tell you to “Replace Filter” you should change it anyway. A High Grade filter costs $120.
Every time you replace the purification filter you should press the “Reset” button just over the filter to reset the water volume counter. This will also turn off the “Replace Filter” message.
Original Type KDF 2-Stage Pre-Filters / Ion Exchange 3-Stage Pre-Filter
KDF 2-Stage filter has a mechanical filter and a KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) filter.
Ion Exchange Pre-filter has the mechanical and KDF filters plus the Ion Exchange Filter.
When you use KDF Filters ahead of the granular activated carbon (GAC) filters, there are a number of advantages:
1) There is: Less bacteria • Less free chlorine • Less heavy metal content • Less scale buildup • Less filter maintenance. 2) You enhance and extend the performance of the carbon filter. 3) KDF filters remove hundreds of other contaminates.
An Ion Exchange Filter is a water softener and should be used where there is extremely hard water.
The mechanical filter (clear case) should be changed whenever it looks ugly and dirty. This will vary from house to house. Some need changing every month, others every 6 months.
The KDF filter (white case) should be changed every time you change the machine internal Activated Charcoal Filter, meaning every 3000 gallons or one year, whichever comes first.
The Ion Exchange filter (second white case) should be changed every 6 months.
You may want to invest in a KDF filter wrench ($5) to make replacement easier. You can get them at Enagic.
New Style 2-Stage Prefilters
The newer type pre-filters should be changed every 1500 gallons or as specified in their literature. There are cartridges like the ion-exchange cartridge that needs to be changed more frequently.
Shower Filters
In the Shower Unit there are two filters, a clean water cartridge (purification filter) and a mineralization filter (ceramic cartridge).
According to the instruction booklet you should change the Clean Water filter once a year and the Ceramic Filter about every 3 years.
Replacement timing can vary depending on the source water quality and the quantity of water used.
