Alkaline Water at Home – It Effects More than Just Your Health

I revisited an email sent to me some time back and had to post this to the blog. I talk about how important it is to have an Alkaline Water Machine in your house and the benefits it can have for your family. But that is just the start of the benefits. You having a machine at home definitely effects your health but it also effects mine. Why? Because every one with a machine in their house is reducing their dependence on plastic and its negative effect on the environment.

When I got my machine and started looking at the negative effects of plastic on our environment I was amazed at how many plastic bottles my 3 person family would use in a years time if bottled water was my drink of choice. My little 3 person family would go through between 7,000-10,000 plastic water bottles a year. And that is just water, what if we drank anything else. That number would increase. Now multiply that number times the number of families in your city and you can see how we have a major problem on our hands. We must find a way to curb our dependence on that convenient little bottle. It effects your health and the health of every other living being on the planet.

If you do not believe that that plastic bottle we use every day is effecting even the futhest corners of this planet take a look at the pictorial that photographer Chris Jordan has put together called Midway: Message from the Gyre.

Here is how Chris describes the project;

On Midway Atoll, a remote cluster of islands more than 2000 miles from the nearest continent, the detritus of our mass consumption surfaces in an astonishing place: inside the stomachs of thousands of dead baby albatrosses. The nesting chicks are fed lethal quantities of plastic by their parents, who mistake the floating trash for food as they forage over the vast polluted Pacific Ocean.

For me, kneeling over their carcasses is like looking into a macabre mirror. These birds reflect back an appallingly emblematic result of the collective trance of our consumerism and runaway industrial growth. Like the albatross, we first-world humans find ourselves lacking the ability to discern anymore what is nourishing from what is toxic to our lives and our spirits. Choked to death on our waste, the mythical albatross calls upon us to recognize that our greatest challenge lies not out there, but in here.

Click on the picture below and it will take you to Chris’ Website and you will see the pictures he took on these remote islands.

Why you need an Alkaline Water MachineOnce you see this pictorial you will understand that we both have our work cut out for us. Lets start now!
